This is what we're building. And we're not building it alone.
One Song Collective is a living, evolving project on 99 acres in Perth, Ontario. What you see here is the vision. A full permaculture design for the property developed with intention, rooted in ecological principles, and designed to grow with the community that tends it.
Some of it exists. Some of it is in progress. Some of it is waiting for the right people.
We're each a note, together we are music.

In 2023 we worked with permaculture designer N. de Ville to create a full site design for the 99 acres. It covers everything from food forests and orchards to a commercial nursery, community gathering spaces, wildlife habitat, and overnight cabin retreats.
This is not a finished picture. It is a living document. A map of where we are going and an open invitation to help us get there.
What we are building
Orchards and food forest
Apple, pear, cherry, peach, plum, and nut trees across multiple orchard designs including spirals, rings, and swirls. Underplanted with native species, berry shrubs, and pollinator plants.
Community crop blocks and u-pick gardens
Seasonal vegetables, herbs, garlic, strawberries, cut flowers, and more. Grown with the community, for the community.
Commercial nursery and growing greenhouses
Up to five polytunnel greenhouses for propagation, plant sales, and year-round food production. A hub for ecological growing knowledge.
Four-season growing dome
A geodesic dome for tropicals, seed starting, propagation, and retreat space. Growing food and community year-round.
Chicken home and composting systems
An integrated flock for composting, foraging, and eggs. A closed-loop system that feeds the land.
Fire circle and outdoor cooking space
A permanent stone fire circle for community gatherings and ceremony, alongside a covered outdoor kitchen with a cob masonry oven.
This is regenerative land stewardship at full scale. Ecological, communal, and deeply intentional. None of it happens alone.
Labyrinth
A 28-foot walking labyrinth with herb borders and a maidenhair tree. A space for stillness, reflection, and nervous system restoration.
Cabin site for retreats
A multi-room cabin with composting toilet, shower block, and grey water drainage. Nestled into the nuttery and designed for overnight retreat stays.
Wildlife fields, ponds, and native habitat
The front wildlife field, the OWL pond, the back pond, and restored meadow areas supporting native species, migratory birds, and specialist pollinators.
Windbreaks and hedgerows
Hundreds of native trees and shrubs along the property borders, planted in partnership with the RVCA. Habitat, noise screening, and ecological corridors.
Commercial kitchen (future)
A shared community kitchen for food processing, preservation, and education. A cornerstone of the food sovereignty vision.

We are looking for community partners to help develop specific areas of the property. Partners are different from volunteers — they have a financial stake in the collective and a voice in how their area grows. If any part of this vision calls to you, we'd love to have a conversation.
What partnership looks like at One Song Collective:

We are not building this for the community. We are building it with the community.
Volunteer Opportunities
There are always hands needed on the land. Planting, restoring, building, creating, and tending to the spaces we share.
Whether you have a morning to spare or want to become a regular contributor, everyone is welcome here. Volunteering at One Song Collective is not transactional, it is relational. You show up for the land and the land gives back.
